Making *All The Comics*

THE LEGEND OF JAMIE ROBERTS
VANITA AND THE DEMON KING
Panel 1: Wide panel. Vanita stands next to the dining room table, a stack of books next to her. She reads one of the books with the updated notes. Through the window into the kitchen, we see King brushing oil on the chicken and humming. Panel 2: Vanita slides the roasting tray into the oven. Behind her, King leans forward to try and peek at what she is doing. Panel 3: Medium shot on Vanita and Demon King from the waist up as they stand in the kitchen. Vanita holds her phone, and King watches, confused. Vanita says, “Set an alarm for one hour.” The phone says, “One hour. Starting now.” Panel 4: Wide shot. Vanita goes into the living room and crawls into the blanket fort. King is walking from the kitchen to follow.
...I can’t help it. I’m making the Basho & Norsa short in color.

After trying both methods – color vs black & white – I went, “This comic is lacking something that color will help with.” And well, it’s supposed to be a scene between Chapters 12 and 13 in The Legend of Jamie Roberts. So *of course* I did it in color.

I do have other projects in mind that I’m going to draw in black and white. One of them, The Witch & Her Demon, will be a NSFW comic. (The script for that is done, even!)

The other comic to be done in black and white? The Fantasyville Holiday Special for this year.

Now, it’s still a work in progress. But it’s all scripted! It’s also only 6 pages long. My pie-in-the-sky goal is to get all 6 pages done before this upcoming Saturday night. That’s when I take the train to Genghis Con.

The last one – and this isn’t even outlined yet – is a story set in the world of Puzzlespell. I’m gearing to make a new story as a submission to Canonwrite Production’s next anthology project, which is Kaiju themed. And I was like, “Well, humans are kaiju to cats. And the world of Puzzlespell is one where witchy kitties, warlock puppies, crows, and owls protect each other from The Madam, a human witch. So why not make a short from this premise?”

Only the Holiday Special has a deadline. The other two, well, one is a personal project and the other is a pitch to an anthology that hasn’t opened for submissions yet. But I wanted to give you a tease of what I’ve been working on this last week and a half.

As for A Viking Mercenary’s Guide to Falling In Love? I’m making a new channel on the Discord server to share some notes and WIPs for that!

Here’s what I *can* share, though:
In this story, the main character is Ingrid, the Viking Mercenary. She’s hired as a bodyguard by a duke to escort his twin children, Elizabeth and Patrick, across the continent. The plan is to drop Elizabeth off with her fiancé and Patrick at a monastery. But the kids have plans of their own. Shenanigans ensue.

I’m definitely pulling inspiration for this from A Knight’s Tale, and also a little of Over the Garden Wall (as far as “wacky new person of the week to meet”). This world is going to need some wild characters for folks to meet on their travels, and I’m open to suggestions (wink wink).

OH! I have one more potential comic idea. This is still *early early* stages. Like, I don’t have a plot figured out yet, but there’s an idea of one. All I have at the moment are sketches.

It’s The Little Caticorn.
Again, SUPER beginning stages, so who knows where this idea will go?

But it’s been exciting exploring these ideas and drawing out new stories! Let’s see what develops...

That’s all for now...
