The December Club Zine is Ready for You!

THE LEGEND OF JAMIE ROBERTS
Panel 1: wide shot. Basho and Norsa both are in the Dogona Great House hall. Late afternoon sun pours in from the garden entrances. Basho: “Did you have any other meetings today? Norsa: “Well, before you arrived, I had a sit-down one with the Neighborhoods Council. Before that was the Trader’s Union…” Basho: “Anything from the temple up top?” Panel 2: Medium close-up on Basho and Norsa. Norsa pinches the bridge of her nose. Norsa: “No, but it’s only a matter of time. The flood season didn’t provide nearly enough water this year.” Basho: “Mm. I did notice the river at Maliwe was low. Panel 3: Norsa rolls her eyes. Norsa: “Greeeeat. Well, before we forget, call in the Ka’oh Po’oi.” Basho whistles sharply.
VANITA AND THE DEMON KING
All 3 panels are wide, and take place inside a blanket fort made of a blue blanket, green couch, and wood dining room chairs. Panel 1: Vanita looks to the Demon King and smiles. She says, “You know...I never got your name. I’m Vanita.” Panel 2: Wee see the view from behind King as they answer. The answer startles Vanita. King says, “...When I was summoned here, I was not given a name. The closest it came was “King” when I led armies. Panel 3: Medium close-up on King. They say, “I don’t even remember my name from my life in the Pit. It got erased when I got summoned here, and reshaped.”
I realized I misnamed one of the characters in A Viking Mercenary’s Guide! She’s not Elizabeth, but Christian. (Fun fact: Christian was a gender neutral name back in the Middle Ages. I discovered this back when I worked on my Women Warriors illustration project *ages* ago.)

So last week I mentioned a LOT of comics projects in the works. Because of that, I feel like I don’t have much this week in the way of updates.

That said, I’m updating a bunch of notes on Obsidian, my new go-to tool for organizing my notes on various projects. Obsidian can organize everything based on “Vaults” (which is like a database of notes). I have one Vault for only story-based notes, and one vault for the admin stuff – keeping track of page progression and deadlines, preparations needed for KickStarters and conventions, etc.

In the admin Vault, I’m making a Master Sheet to track all those comics I wrote about last week. There are progress bars and everything. Because I’m a dork.

I’m also toying with an idea a colleague pitched in the Cartoonist Co-op. We were thinking of doing an online event encouraging folks to draw fanart of their favorite webcomics and posting those fanarts online. That way the webcomic creators get some love AND we spread the word that those webcomics exist! I make no promises of doing this daily, but don’t be surprised if you see some new fanart popping up on my website or on YouTube.

Reading all of this back to myself – along with last week’s email – I’m like, “Oh boy this sounds pretty manic. I need to pace myself.” Which is all the more reason to organize my notes and track progress (and deadlines) on things.

CLUB REWARDS

The Digital Club Zine for December is ready for download! You can read that here. (You can also right-click the link and save a copy, if that's more your speed).

I’m writing and scheduling this email before Genghis Con weekend. But as of this writing, I’m on track to finishing the Holiday Special 2025 zine before I get on the train! So keep an eye out, for next week I’m going to bundle the Holiday Special 2025 zine and the Valkyrie prints.

We’ll see which happens first – me sending out Club rewards in the mail, or the KickStarter books arriving at my doorstep. Either way, I want to make sure you get your goodies by Christmas.

That’s all for now...
