THE LEGEND OF JAMIE ROBERTS
Panel 1: the Ka’oh Po’oi exit out of the hall’s main entry. Panel 2: Medium close-up on Basho and Norsa. Basho, arms crossed, glances down as Norsa turns to him and says, “...Please excuse me for being so terse.” Panel 3: Basho touches his hand to his chest. He says, “It’s fine. I should be the one apologizing.” Panel 4: We look down on Basho and Norsa as she touches a hand on his arm. The two have eyes only for each other. Norsa says, “It’s not your fault that Ranki is...Ranki.” Basho replies, “...I know…” Panel 5: Norsa laces her fingers with Basho’s. Basho says, “But we are twins. In some ways, I still feel...responsible. And I know, we have had this conversation before…” “Several times,” says Norsa from off-panel. Basho says, “...It’s a miracle you put up with me.” Panel 6: Close up on Basho and Norsa’s hands holding each other. Norsa says from off-panel, “I married YOU. Not him. Remember that.”
Panel 1: Zoom out and see Basho and Norsa from the waist up. Norsa sighs and looks around. She says, “And our son takes after you.” Basho says, “What did he do?” Norsa replies, “He’s been disappearing more than usual.” Panel 2: The two start to walk towards the back of the hall, towards the back room. Basho says, “Well, he just ran off to follow after Daniel. Jamie and Thomas will keep an eye on those two.” “Which one was Daniel again?” Norsa asks. Basho says, “The tall, blonde archer.” Panel 3: Tall panel showing the back room. As Basho lifts the curtain away, we see multiple entries and exits. Norsa asks, “Now why would Nonny run after him?” Basho says, “Well, Daniel and Nonny both have the same leanings.” And Norsa replies, “Ah, that’s why you let them talk earlier…” Panel 4: tall panel. Basho and Norsa, back to the viewer, look up from the base of a set of stairs. The shadows cast the stairs in shadow, and at the top we see light coming from a room.
Panels 1, 2, and 3 are in a row in a sequence. In this sequence, Norsa looks at the stairs off-panel with a thoughtful look. Basho notices this, scoops her up in his arms to hold her, and smiles. She’s startled at first but smiles back. Panel 3: Tall panel, Basho carries Norsa up the stairs. Norsa says, “Thank you, Ma’oor. My knees just aren’t what they used to be.” Basho asks, “What did you do while I was away?” Norsa says, “Stay in the guest quarters on the ground floor.” Panel 5: The doorway at the top of the stairs frames this shot, of Basho reaching the top of the stairs. Norsa, still in his arms, says, “We are replacing the guest mats right away. They are NOT comfortable enough.” Basho, smiling, says, “Palace life has spoiled my wild woman.”
VANITA AND THE DEMON KING
Panel 1: In this flashback panel, we see King cringing at their arm. The candle, part of the summoning circle, is still lit. King (present): “...I have hated this body ever since Wintergate forced me into it.” Panel 2: Present day. Vanita’s face softens as she looks at the Demon King. We cannot see his face. Panel 3: Flashback. We see Wintergate’s pale hand holding a book of magic open. On the pages are a picture of a demon and some text we cannot read. King (present): “When I had been reshaped, well...to cast the spell requires the name of the person you are transforming. And as soon as the deed is done - Panel 4: Zoom in on the text of the book from panel 3. We see a list of names, with one name turning into dust and flying away on the wind. King (present): “ - that original name is lost. Because the original is now gone.”
Panel 1: Wide panel. We look down at King’s hands as they sit, legs crossed, on the floor under the blanket fort. King says, “Mister Wintergate never gave me a new name...only calling me ‘he’, ‘it’, or ‘his pet.’” Panel 2: Flashback, close-up. We only see Mister Wintergate’s hand and crooked smile as he leers over the viewer, shirtless. Panel 3: Present day. King clenches a fist. Panel 4: Very close up on King as they glare, recalling this memory. Panel 5: Vanita speaks up and draws King’s attention. Vanita asks, “Did ‘King’ as a name come after...Wintergate’s accident? Panel 6: We see King from behind their head, looking away. Part of the speech trails into the next panel. King says, “Yes. But it was a name I did not ask for. The voices of the desperate and downtrodden bestowed it upon me after they heard my story.” Panel 7: Flashback. King, younger, stands before an enormous crowd of people, all cheering with arms raised.
All but panel 6 are in flashback. Panel 1: We see a young Demon King staring out over the horizon, dismayed. King (narration): After they heard what I had been through, I was a legend… Panel 2: Close up on King’s eyes. King (narration): ...But never a person. Panel 3: Smaller panel. King’s fist shakes. Panel 4: King raises their fist to the crowd, who go wild. King (narration): But if one must choose whether a legend of a person could change the world – let it be a legend. Panel 5: Wide panel. King is now thicker with muscle, facing off against an armored man. Both carry greatswords, which King wields with one hand. Around them are sounds and bodies at war. King (narration): That’s what I believed...even up to the battle with Richard. Panel 6: Wide panel, present day. We see a book by the blanket fort. King: But now…
Yep, this is the last Club Member Newsletter of 2025, and oh boy is this issue going out with a BANG! And by BANG I mean a *lot* of comic pages and early updates.

Now, to be clear: The Legend of Jamie Roberts AND Vanita and the Demon King will still update on their official sites as normal. I’m just going to give you a ton of early updates for both.

I’m also going to put a few things on pause during the holiday break, but I’ll announce that in Friday’s email update.

So, with all of that out of the way...

Yes, you get a Digital Zine included in the Last Club Member Newsletter of 2025! This has a lot in it, and that’s because I wanted to reward you for all of the support you have given this past year.

To be honest, this year was exceptionally rough. But your support helped keep me going in the roughest of times. I wouldn’t keep making comics today without you.

So, thank you. Together we made a ton of comics, and I hope next year, we get to make even more. <3
