I did the adult thing and filed my taxes (bleh). The good news is surprising: that the comics business grew from 2024 to 2025!
|
It's surprising because it didn't always feel that way. But I did a full breakdown of everything to see what worked and what I can do more of.

More Witchy Kitties! These were my most popular zines! So this year I may finally try to get PuzzleSpell into print (maybe with an alternate ending?), since it's got witchy kitties. Either that, or Toe Beans & Broomsticks...or both...

More Charlie & Clow stories! I'm continuously flabbergasted at how well The Case of the Wendigo does at conventions and other events. Maybe it's the cover art, maybe it's the pitch. But folks love this comic! So I think a short comic with Charlie & Clow ought to be in the works. Perhaps even retouching some panels from the original short? We'll see what happens in June/July!

More Mothman. (Obviously). I did a reprint of my short A Day in the Life of Mothman (from Less Than Secret: A Cryptid Anthology) in November 2025. And yet, in just a two-month window, it became my bestselling minicomic. I think a bigger print-run will be necessary soon. My poor home printer can only handle so many copies at a time.

More Godzilla in Booty Shorts. It's still my most popular sticker. I might have to do a Mothman in booty shorts - and maybe more cyptids. I know I have Fresno Nightcrawler in booty shorts somewhere...

More short stories set in The Legend of Jamie Roberts. Not so much The Legend of Norsa or Azhte Buwa. But shorts like PIE-rates and Basho & Norsa.

More art! Like, taken right out of my sketchbooks original art. They did really well in 2024, and I'm still sitting on a lot of art.
|
It's good to have a sense of direction, and that this data from 2024 and 2025 lines up with some of my hunches! I had a hunch that more short stories would be the way to go. It was just a matter of what those shorts should be about.
|
A couple of things to note: first, Vanita and the Demon King will be going on hiatus in March, so there will be no previews or sneak peeks of that comic in this zine. Second, The Legend of Jamie Roberts will still have updates, but other projects will be on hold while day job shenanigans keep me busy. So this month's zine is a little thin (sorry!).
|
To try to make up for that, I'm including some sneak peeks at the script for 5 Times Jamie and Thomas Almost Kissed. Pages are still in progress on that one, and will be worked on as I get a chance to work on them.
