I mentioned a new cat last week. Now I can talk about her.

It's been about a year since BreeBree passed away, and 6 months since finding a new, safe home for Princess. Part of me will always miss BreeBree - she was a one of a kind kitty. And I'm glad I could find a new home for Princess. It didn't feel right to keep her at the time (even if the rest of the family was trying to force me to keep her out of obligation, or force me to give her to an unsafe relative), because I was still grieving. I wanted, and needed, the space to grieve and not feel like I was keeping a pet out of guilt, or forcing her into an unsafe home. Princess deserved better than that. So I found her a new home where she could be loved, safe, and taken care of.

I'm glad for that space. After 6 months of calm, I reflected on things and thought to myself, "I think it's time to bring a new kitty into my life. But I hope this next kitty will be a social little gray baby."

That's when a friend of mine, Su, messaged me, saying she was looking for a new home for one of her kitties. This kitty's not getting along with the other cats in the house, and would do better if she were the only kitty in the castle. And I was like, "I can do that!"

So this is Meht-Meht, aka Peggy Carter. (She came from a litter where all the kittens were named after Marvel characters). She's about 3 years old, with a clean bill of health. When I first met her, she was chirping and walking all over me to get pets. And I thought, "I love her already."

TO BE CLEAR, she has not moved in with me yet. I want to wait until after the move to the new apartment before bringing her home. I want to minimize the stress for this kitty as much as possible. So until then, she's staying with my friend Su. I'm hoping she can move in around June 2.
