VANITA AND THE DEMON KING

Yo, 2026 is here with a BANG, y’all.

I’m not just talking about the geopolitics of everything. I mean here in the studio, things are popping off in a good way!

The Basho & Norsa short – including the NSFW section – is nearly finished! I should have the full short done by next week. When it’s ready, I’m going to post it on the Red Light District, the NSFW comics site I started. Which, that’s now live! (To circumvent some online censorship, I got creative with setting up downloadable PDFs of the short stories so they’re a little tucked and hidden away. There will be other malicious compliance measures put in place soon.)

I also just pitched some workshops to run to my local maker’s space. Hoping I hear back from them soon! These workshops would be in the spring here in Toledo. As far as virtual workshops, I have two lined up in May as part of Nib and Ink Fest.

Now, while I have *some* conventions lined up, I want to try to keep any in-person appearances light in the first 4 months of this year. (I also need to talk to my manager at the new day job about making sure I have Bash Con weekend off, but that’s a whole other discussion). I don’t want to overwork myself too much.

To that end, I want to give the heads up about this now: Vanita and the Demon King is going on hiatus in March. It will only be for the month of March, but I wanted to give the heads up now. I’ll share reminders the closer we get to the date.

Oh dang, all this talk about comics and I didn’t even mention how the holiday vacation went! Honestly, I’m glad I took that time off. I needed the quiet to rest and recharge before diving headfirst into anything else.

That said, I’m still going to honor the signals I get from my body, especially over this first quarter of the year. Today I woke up with neck pain, so I’m keeping the workload light to nonexistent, taking stretching breaks, hydrating, and NOT pushing anything.

CLUB REWARDS

The next Zine Club print zine will actually be NEXT month, as part of Black History Month! So for this month’s Zine Club members, I’m bringing back one of my favorite cats as a sticker.

I love this Alaska Thunderfuck cat so hecking much. She’s coming back to the convention line-up this year. (I’m also hoping that CATS: The Sketchbook will come back to print this year, but we’ll see.)

There may also be another bonus sticker, depending on how quickly I can knock out this next design. Here’s a sketch:
