With Great (Emailing) Power...

Comes sneaking some comics stuff at the day job!
THE LEGEND OF JAMIE ROBERTS
Panel 1: Medium shot of Ranki, his hand on his hip and his head tilted all cocky as he grins and says, “Or WHAT? You will take my sword?” Panel 2: Ranki says, “You have TWO on your belt!” We see Jamie wielding one sword as the other, Mocktaw’ess Kass, is strapped on their other hip. Panel 3: Wide panel. Thomas runs up to the sword in the stump, hand outstretched. Jamie is caught off-guard. Panel 4: Close up on Ranki. He’s startled to see this. Panel 5: Close up on Thomas’ hand clasping the hilt of the sword in the stump. Panel 6: Thomas pulls the massive sword from the stump with a wide stance and a SHHIII -
VANITA AND THE DEMON KING
Panel 1: Don puts his hear next to Claudia’s belly, closes his eyes, and smiles. Panel 2: Close up on his face. He says, “I can’t wait to hold them.” Panel 3: Close up on Claudia. She smiles and blushes. Panel 4: Don kisses Claudia’s belly and says, “Now be good for your mother.” Claudia smiles. Panel 5: Don gets to tidying up the bookcase by the register. Claudia tallies something on a clipboard. The shop is quiet.
Don't tell anybody, but I wrote the Friday newsletter and this newsletter while at the day job.

Those fools made the mistake of giving me an email address at the office. So, while no one is looking, I've been drafting emails to myself where I can type newsletter stuff (as well as some blog posts and promotional copy for workshops I'm running in person). In fact, the BROOD review was drafted at the day job, with some heavily redacted and censored words to not trigger any bots watching.

I am going to be an absolute menace with this emailing power.

Now, I mentioned in a past newsletter about drafting a new short comic, 5 Times Jamie and Thomas Almost Kissed. I have the script for that done. And like the Basho and Norsa short before, and the haunted house story I finished recently, this short is going to be made in batches.

As of this writing, I've done the first batch, which is laying out all the pages and getting the speech balloons in place. The next step is to draw everything.
This sucker is roughly 20 pages.

I don't know how quickly I can get this done. I did set a personal record of finishing 19 comic pages in 17 days in January, but that's not a record I'm looking to break anytime soon. That shit was rough on my body, and I'm still recovering from a particularly pernicious head cold. But I want to finish this short story in time to be included in an upcoming itch.io bundle.

Maybe I'll simplify this short story by keeping it in black and white, rather than doing full color. (Doing that DID speed up the process of the haunted house short I did). Or by doing a simplified color version. The full version can be saved for when volume 4 of The Legend of Jamie Roberts goes to crowdfund. Because I really want this short to be included in volume 4! We’ll see what happens...

CLUB REWARDS

The Black History Month Zine not only got re-formatted - it got some new pages added!

So if you're a long-time fan and got the old edition of this zine, this new edition has new figures included.

On top of that, the mini-prints are now ready, as are the Polly Possum stickers I forgot to send last month. Everything should be bundled and mailed out to you before this upcoming weekend.

That's all for now...
