Y'all. This is the best birthday present I've ever received (so far)!
On my birthday Monday, I saw that The Legend of Jamie Roberts, volume 1 is now on hoopla!
For the uninitiated, hoopla is an app connected to public libraries where patrons can borrow audiobooks, movies, music, and comics - and now The Legend of Jamie Roberts, volume 1 is among them!
I'm so freaking excited for this genderqueer pirate comic! Holy banana pants!
So if you have never read the comic before, you can now read it free through hoopla! If you have read it, please give it a review through the app. Reviews help boost the comic so other folks can discover and read it.
I'm now working to get volumes 2 and 3 on hoopla, so stay tuned for further updates!
(PLEASE NOTE: The Legend of Jamie Roberts is Rated PA on hoopla, because of pirate violence, non-sexual spirit nudity, language, and because some people think that having a genderqueer lead automatically makes something sexual even when it isn't.)

CONVENTION ALERT!
Find me at Small Press Expo on Sept 12 and 13! Find me at table W23B.
Now, I AM aware that the workers of the Montgomery County Conference Center are on strike, and that the organizers of Small Press Expo are having the con at this hotel, anyway. (More info is in this Cartoonist United post). If you are attending, I will be handing out pamphlets with more info about the strike, and I will not be getting food, drinks, or hotel products while there. (I also will be staying at a hostel rather than at the hotel). I encourage attendees to do the same, if possible, in solidarity with the workers on strike.

Speaking of The Legend of Jamie Roberts, Chapter 13 just wrapped up this week on the official website! As usual, there will be a hiatus between chapters. But do note that this hiatus will be longer than usual because of some behind-the-scenes shenanigans - including getting ready for Small Press Expo.
That said! Keep checking on the official website, because I'm sharing fanart other webcomic creators have made for The Legend of Jamie Roberts! There will also be a Q&A special. So keep checking the website on Wednesdays!

Currently there are two bundles on itch.io that I'm part of! FAIR WARNING, both bundles include comics for adult readers:
The Cartoonist United Great Outdoors Bundle collects comics all about the great outdoors, perfect for the vibes of summer! (Enjoy them before autumn arrives). This bundle is ONLY available for 3 more days, so nab it while you can and support Cartoonist United as an organization!
The Trans Het Jam bundle is a collection of comics featuring trans het characters and their romantic shenanigans. (If you're new to LGBTQ+ language, trans het is another way of saying "this couple looks straight, but at least one person in the relationship is transgender"). This bundle is available for another 2 months!
By the way! If you are creative and are so inclined, The Legend of Jamie Roberts is looking for your art to highlight in late September/early October! This is unpaid, but if you draw the lovable characters from the webcomic, I will share your art on this newsletter and on the official website! I will also share any links you want me to shout-out. Just send your art as a reply to this email OR send me a message on Discord at kelcidcomics.

Recently I rediscovered Violent Bloom, a Toledo-local chamber pop group. Their album Tightrope is absolutely stellar. If you're a fan of groups like Florence + The Machine, check out Violent Bloom.
But if you prefer industrial/experimental hip-hop, have you heard of clipping? Their album Splendor + Misery is my current listen and I gotta' say, it's like if Angelspit (industrial goth) and The Mighty Third Rail (spoken word hip hop) did a collaboration in the best way.
